Blaine to head north Mississippi center
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- Alan Blaine was named the interim head of the North Mississippi Research and Extension Center in Verona after its current head took another position within Mississippi State University.
"Dr. Blaine has Extension and research experience," said Vance Watson, vice president of MSU's Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine. "His previous experience at the North Mississippi Research and Extension Center makes him uniquely qualified for this interim assignment."
Blaine replaced Joe Street, who moved to Stoneville to head MSU's Delta Research and Extension Center.
Blaine had served for 15 years as the state soybean specialist for the MSU Extension Service. He assumed his interim position Aug. 15 and will continue to oversee the statewide soybean educational program.
"I am fortunate to have four very good people working with me in the soybean program," Blaine said. "They are supported primarily through grower check-off funds. We will continue to do everything we can to provide high standards of service to the soybean growers in the state."
