All clergy invited to marriage summits
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- Clergy across the state are being asked to lend their support to efforts to improve marriages in Mississippi, and a series of summits is planned over seven days in late November and early December to better equip them for the task.
Thirteen summits are scheduled for Nov. 26-29 and Dec. 4-6. All are in preparation for Healthy Marriage Week, which takes places Feb. 7-14. Activities that week will be offered through the joint efforts of the Mississippi State University Extension Service, the Mississippi Department of Human Services and numerous religions organizations across the state.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to honor the most important institution in America -- marriage,” said Tabitha Staier, Extension family education and policy specialist. “We are encouraging all clergy to come to one of these summits and to begin work focusing the attention of their congregations and communities on the need to build strong marriages in Mississippi.”
