Landscape short course set December 10-12 at MSU
MISSISSIPPI STATE – A landscape short course Dec. 10-12 at Mississippi State University will give professionals and enthusiasts a chance to learn more about plants and their maintenance.
Sponsored by the MSU Extension Service, the event will be in Dorman Hall. Early registration is $160 per person if paid by Dec. 1. Onsite registration is $200. The fee covers the cost of educational materials, supplies and some meals.
The short course will cover basic principles of landscape establishment and management.
“A short course is a good vehicle to provide information and retraining for individuals who offer landscaping services, maintain parks and recreation areas, or serve in some capacity as plant professionals,” said Extension ornamental horticulturist Mengmeng Gu. “While we are targeting these groups, we also want to encourage anyone interested in plants to participate.”
The short course will feature a tree and shrub walk on campus. Classroom topics include plant selection, lawn establishment, proper maintenance, pest control, soil fertility and budgeting for materials. Participants will have an opportunity to network with Extension professionals and individuals in the landscaping business.
