MISSISIPPI STATE – People wanting to learn how to develop forest habitats, wildlife areas, streams, lakes and other natural settings into income generators can attend an outdoor recreational business workshop Nov. 10 at Legion State Park in Louisville.

The one-day workshop will give attendees information to start and manage a natural resource enterprise. The morning session will begin at 8:30 with topics on revenue potential from different types of enterprises, landowner cost-share programs, liability and legal considerations.

Participants will spend the afternoon outdoors learning wildlife habitat management techniques for deer, turkey, fee fishing, hunting and wildlife watching.

The workshop is part of a series by the Natural Resource Enterprises Program at Mississippi State University. This program is a partnership with MSU's Extension Service, MSU's Forest and Wildlife Research Center, the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The partnership created the Natural Resource Enterprises Program to assist private landowners in developing alternative or supplemental methods for income.

The workshop’s $25 registration fee includes a reference notebook, lunch, breaks, presentations and a field tour.
