Dairy management conference set for Jan. 13
MISSISSIPPI STATE – Dairy producers in Mississippi and Louisiana are invited to participate in a management conference designed to help them learn to increase their profits.
The Mississippi-Louisiana Dairy Management Conference will be held Jan. 13 at the Southwest Events Center in Tylertown. The 9 a.m.-1 p.m. event is open to all dairy producers, dairy managers and dairy farm employees.
“The conference is designed to bring useful information for improving profitability on dairy farms,” said Lamar Adams, event coordinator and dairy specialist with the Mississippi State University Extension Service.
Topics include an overview of educational benefits students received from participating in the Southern Region North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge hosted by MSU; farm management practices to ensure production of high-quality milk and maintenance of sound udder health; and an update about short- and long-term dairy policy and milk price issues. A panel of Mississippi and Louisiana dairy producers will discuss management practices on their own farms. Commercial exhibitors will have product and service displays at the event.
The Southwest Events Center is at 29 Highway 48 East in Tylertown adjacent to the Holmes Water Park. From Highway 98, take Highway 198 headed toward downtown Tylertown. Turn onto Highway 48 East and drive one-half mile toward Sandy Hook. The events center entrance is on the right side of Highway 48.
