MSU horse sale set for March 12
HATTIESBURG -- Mississippi State University will auction about 20 horses and one pony to raise money to support MSU’s equine research program.
This is the first year for the sale to be held off campus. The March 12 sale will begin at 1 p.m. at the T. Smith Livestock Co. at 122 T. Smith Road in Hattiesburg. Buyers can begin viewing the horses at 11 a.m.
Most of the horses are yearlings registered with the American Quarter Horse Association or the American Paint Horse Association. Additionally, a 2-year-old filly that is a granddaughter of Triple-Crown winner Seattle Slew will be auctioned. She is registered with The Jockey Club.
Adult horses include a 10-year-old paint mare, a 17-year-old quarter horse and a 12-year-old brood mare.
The sale will include tack items and horses that are not from the MSU herds.
