MISSISSIPPI STATE – Youth with an interest in animals and veterinary medicine are invited to attend a camp offered by Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

MSU Veterinary Camp will provide a hands-on experience to youth ages 13 to 15. Campers will participate in interactive labs and learn about veterinary medicine from CVM instructors. Students considering a career in veterinary medicine, scientific research or an animal-related field are encouraged to apply.

“The sessions will introduce campers to everything from anatomy and microbiology to radiology and physical exams,” said Tori Hall, camp founder and CVM student. “They’ll learn about a wide variety of career options from small to large animal, public health to pathology and research to pet health veterinarians. Most importantly, those involved are going to have a great time.”

Current CVM students will serve as camp counselors, and participants will get a first-hand look at life as a veterinary student. Interested youth can attend one of two camp sessions June 7-9 or June 14-16. The camp program runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CVM. The registration fee is $150, which includes lunch each day, a scrub top and all lab activities. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. Space is very limited, and qualified applicants will be accepted in the order in which their applications are received. Applications must be postmarked by March 1.
