Forage conference offers producers latest research
VERONA -- Forage and livestock producers can learn about the latest research and production methods at the annual Mississippi Forage and Grassland Conference.
The Mississippi State University Extension Service will co-sponsor the event on Nov. 14 at the North Mississippi Research and Extension Center, located at 5421 Highway 145 South in Verona.
The conference includes poster presentations, a hay contest, the Mississippi Grasslander Award presentation, an awards lunch, an exhibit area with products and services, and numerous networking opportunities. Speakers from the University of Georgia, the University of Tennessee and the United States Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service will discuss current issues, including sustainability of grazing systems and grazing management of native grasses.
The event begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m. Participants can fill out an online registration form at http://www.mississippifgc.org or call 662-325-2311.
The deadline to register is Nov. 1. MFSGC members can attend for $15. Nonmembers can preregister for $25 or register onsite for $30. Student registration fees are $15.
Additional conference sponsors include the Mississippi Forage and Grassland Council, MSU Extension Service Forage Program, Grazing Lands Coalition Initiative, Soil and Water Conservation Commission and Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association.
