MSU Extension specialist awarded for consumer series
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- A Mississippi State University Extension Service specialist is taking her financial literacy message to television -- and winning awards for it.
Rita Green, an assistant Extension professor and family financial management specialist, recently received the Outstanding Consumer Information award from the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education during its annual awards luncheon Nov. 21 in Bellevue, Washington.
The nonprofit, professional membership organization honored Green for her “Your Money Minute” series that aired on Mississippi Delta-based stations WABG and WXVT during America Saves Week. This week is coordinated by the Consumer Federation of America, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals save money and reduce debt.
Green serves on the Federal Reserve’s Community Development Advisory Council for the eighth district. She earned a Master of Business Administration and a doctorate in adult education from the University of Memphis. She has been an Extension employee since 2008.
