Food safety training offered Sept. 27-29
RAYMOND, Miss. -- Food safety professionals who work for meat, poultry and other food processors can earn certification mandated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service during an upcoming workshop.
Experts with the USDA, Mississippi State University Extension Service, and MSU Department of Food Science, Nutrition and Health Promotion will teach participants how to comply with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point, or HACCP, regulations.
The course is open to individuals who have food safety responsibilities for red meat, poultry, catfish, or other food products. Those who want refresher training or updated information on regulatory requirements regarding food safety also are welcome. Attendees will learn the seven principals of HACCP and how to implement, update and maintain existing HACCP plans, including record keeping and review.
The workshop will be at the MSU Bost Conference Center, located at 190 Bost Extension Drive on the Starkville campus.
It begins at 1 p.m. on Sept. 27 and ends at noon on Sept. 29.
Registration is $125 per person and $55 for students. The fee covers course materials and refreshments. Lunch is not provided. Deadline to register is Sept. 19.
