Row crop course updates producers on research
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Before they prepare for 2017, Mississippi producers will have a chance next month to catch up on recent row crop research being conducted across the Southeast.
The Mississippi State University Extension Service invites producers to its annual Row Crop Short Course Dec. 5-7 at the Cotton Mill Conference Center in Starkville. Registration is free until Nov. 28 and $40 on site.
The course kicks off with an extended herbicide-resistance listening session to give affected producers and others who deal with this issue a chance to voice their concerns. Their input will be presented to state and federal agencies who regulate herbicide use.
Other topics will include weed management, irrigation practices, insect-related problems and fertility issues in crop production.
Certified Crop Advisor continuing education units, consultant license renewal credits and pesticide applicator recertification courses will be available at the short course.
Lunch will be provided each day, along with dinners and social events Dec. 5 and 6. Contact Kathy Johnson at 662-325-2311 for more information. Register for the conference online at http://extension.msstate.edu/row-crop-short-course. A preliminary itinerary is available at http://bit.ly/2g1Hdow.
