Date set for farm transition workshop series for women
MISSISSIPPI STATE – Mississippi’s farm and ranch women can learn how to plan for the future of their farming businesses at a workshop series offered by the Mississippi State University and Alcorn State University Extension Services.
The “Managing for Today and Tomorrow” series will be held five consecutive Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 24. The seminar series will be offered at four locations, including the Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center in Raymond, the Bost Extension Center in Starkville, and the county Extension offices in Collins and Indianola.
Participants will learn how to prepare to transfer the farm to the next generation by studying planning strategies in four areas: business, succession, estate and retirement.
The $25 registration fee includes a light supper each week, a large curriculum notebook, and presentations by guest speakers, such as attorneys and insurance agents. Checks should be made payable to MSU.
Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration deadline is Sept. 13.
Participants must register by mailing payment and full contact information, including the city or site where they plan to attend, to Suzie Manning MTT, School of Human Sciences, Box 9745, Mississippi State, MS 39762.
