Cotton growers invited to agronomy field day
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Row crop growers interested in the latest updates in cotton variety research and testing are encouraged to attend the 2023 Mississippi State University Cotton Agronomy Field Day August 24.
The MSU Extension Service and Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station will host the event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the MAFES Veteran’s Memorial Rose Garden at 601 Highway 182 in Starkville.
Graduate students in various agricultural disciplines at MSU will present their research on deer and hail damage, replanting considerations, potassium, row spacing and drainage.
Growers will also be updated on a cotton microbial research project that analyzes nitrogen use efficiency based on an 11-treatment test, using a nitrogen uptake curve and six microbial products. This test is replicated in over 20 locations across the Cotton Belt.
Producers will tour official variety trial and cotton demo plots. A catered meal will be served after the tour.
The field day is free of charge, but registration is required no later than August 21. Visit the online registration portal at https://rb.gy/qwlut.
