Colorful Petunias
Spring is my favorite season of the year! Today Southern Gardening is back at Rivers Greenhouse and Garden Center admiring their awesome selection of petunias that will definitely provide a pop of color in the landscape. Let’s take a look at some of my new favorites. Cascadias Pitaya petunia has a vigorous, very well-branched habit and drapes beautifully over rims of baskets and pots. It produces stunning dark pink trumpet-shaped flowers with dark purple veins and throats. The flower petal edges are a bright lime green color, adding to the visual appeal. Night Sky is a showy, one-of-a-kind petunia. This plant has variable white speckles on the deep purple petals that sparkle like stars in the night sky. Another showy petunia is Easy Wave Rose Fusion. This plant has mid to dark pink rose colored flowers with dark pink colored veins. The dark color veins are a visually stunning characteristic. All of these petunia varieties provide high intensity in full sun and tolerate cool and hot temperature conditions well. Remember that these plants, like all petunias, grow best in a well-drained potting mix with an application of liquid fertilizer every two to three weeks during the summer. Now’s the time to visit your local nurseries and garden centers and get some bright, colorful petunias. I am Eddie Smith, and I will see you next time on Southern Gardening.
