Horticulture open house rolls out the red plants
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- A carpet of red poinsettias and other holiday plants will great visitors on Dec. 1 at Mississippi State University’s annual horticulture open house.
Poinsettias in all shades of red, pink and white, as well as a few novelty-type plants, will be on display from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the greenhouses on Stone Boulevard behind Dorman Hall. Poinsettias also will be on sale at the greenhouses.
The MSU student chapter of the American Institute of Floral Designers will host Ralph Null, MSU professor emeritus of floral design, in a holiday floral design show at noon in the M-Club. Author of several books on floristry, Null will provide demonstrations of holiday floral designs. The deadline for purchasing $30 tickets, which includes a box lunch, is Nov. 28. Following the show, Null will sign copies of his books at the University Florist from 1-2 p.m. The student horticulture clubs on campus also will be selling wreaths and garlands in front of the University Florist throughout the day.
