Vet camp applications are being accepted
MISSISSIPPI STATE – Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine invites youths with interests in animals and veterinary medicine to apply for a summer camp.
MSU Veterinary Camp will provide a hands-on experience to youths aged 13 to 15. Campers will participate in interactive labs and learn about veterinary medicine from CVM instructors. Students considering a career in veterinary medicine, scientific research or an animal-related field are encouraged to apply.
“The sessions will introduce campers to everything from anatomy and microbiology to radiology and physical exams,” said Tori Hall, camp founder and CVM student. “They’ll learn about a wide variety of career options from small- to large- animal, public-health to pathology and research to pet-health veterinarians. Most importantly, those involved are going to have a great time.”
Current CVM students will serve as camp counselors, and participants will get a first-hand look at life as a veterinary student. Interested youths can apply to attend one of two camp sessions: an overnight camp June 6-8 or a day camp June 13-15.
The registration fee is $500 for the overnight session and $200 for the day camp. Both fees include accommodations, meals (lunch only for the day camp session), a scrub top and all lab activities. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available.
Space is very limited, and qualified applicants are encouraged to review the application instructions and information at http://www.msuvetcamp.com. All applications must be postmarked by March 1.
