Floral design, marketing demonstrations offered
BILOXI, Miss. -- Individuals interested in floral design or floral marketing can attend one of four floral design demonstrations across the state in February.
Jim DelPrince, floral design specialist with the Mississippi State University Extension Service, will offer the demonstrations as part of the Beautiful Things from Mississippi initiative, an alternative-crops floral design program. The program is intended to bring Mississippi-produced ornamental horticulture products to the early-adopter floral design market in 2017, DelPrince said.
“Mississippi’s lush foliage, curvy vines and myriad flowers have great value to creative designers,” DelPrince said. “This is an opportunity for people to see how they are used, produced and marketed.”
The program is free and open to anyone interested in floral design or the production and harvest of plant materials for profit.
Workshops will be held at the following locations:
Verona on Feb. 15 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the North Mississippi Research and Extension Center located at 5421 Highway 145 South;
Stoneville on Feb. 16 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Delta Research and Extension Center located at 82 Stoneville Road;
Raymond on Feb. 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center located at 1320 Seven Springs Road; and
