RAYMOND, Miss. -- Agricultural professionals, educators and service providers are invited to attend a training session on irrigation, water management and related technologies.

Two identical sessions will be offered. The first is March 6 at the Small Farm Training Center in Carriere. The second is March 7 at Jumpertown High School in Booneville.

Topics include production of specialty crops on small farms and application of federally funded cost-share programs and technical assistance for small farms.

Sessions also are open to those who support farmers interested in these techniques, including farm group leaders and producers who serve as mentors or trainers.

Registration for both sessions begins at 10 a.m. Both programs begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required.

The Small Farm Training Center is located at 31492 Anner Road in Carriere. Jumpertown High School is located at 717 Highway 4 West in Booneville.

The sessions are funded by Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education.

Other partners include the Mississippi State University Extension Service, Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, Alcorn State University Extension Program, University of Mississippi Transactional Law Clinic, National Center for Appropriate Technology, Mississippi Department of Education and Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce.
